Pancho Lopez
Pancho López is an artist, curator, and performance art researcher. His work focuses on the study of the body, everyday life, and action as critical languages of contemporaneity. He studied Journalism at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and has developed a solid career as a researcher and promoter of performance art in Mexico and Latin America. He served as Head of the Department of Performance Art at the Museo Universitario del Chopo for eleven years, where he led pioneering platforms such as Performagia and EJECT International Videoperformance Festival, consolidating networks among artists, institutions, and performance archives.
López has participated in exhibitions and performance events in more than fifteen countries and currently directs the EXTRA! International Performance Festival, from which he continues to explore performance as an expanded field of research, pedagogy, and artistic practice.
He published the book “Central America in Action” with the support of the Museum of Contemporary Art and Design (MADC) in Costa Rica and the Jumex Foundation. In 2024, he curated the CENTRAL Performance Festival at Grace Exhibition Space, and in 2025, the Experimental Loop Festival, both held in New York City.
