Safer Spaces

Keeping our community welcoming and respectful for everyone who visits.

The Other Side follows Safer Space Guidlines

  • Respect and Support: Respect everyone’s presence, speech, and participation. Act with good intentions, take care of each other, and value diverse perspectives. Avoid mocking, ridiculing, or disparaging others.

  • No Assumptions: Do not make assumptions about anyone’s gender, pronouns, sexual orientation, health, background, abilities, or other personal aspects. Respect everyone’s right to self-determination and privacy.

  • Consent: Always ask for consent before touching, taking photos, or recording anyone—both in physical and digital spaces. Respect the answer you receive, and be open to critique or requests to change your behavior.

  • Accountability: Take responsibility for your actions and their impact on others. If you witness or experience discrimination, harassment, or inappropriate behavior, inform the organizers immediately. Everyone plays a role in maintaining a safer space.

  • Inclusivity and Accessibility: Ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate. Be mindful of accessibility needs (e.g., sign language, wheelchair access) and handle sensitive topics with care.

  • Cultural Sensitivity: Respect cultural differences and avoid cultural appropriation. Celebrate and honor the traditions, practices, and intellectual property of all cultures.

  • Continuous Improvement: We are committed to learning and growing as a community. Feedback on how we can improve our safer space practices is always welcome.
